The Leadership Development Programme (LDP) is designed specifically for our Non-teaching staff, focusing on seamlessly integrate human talent, process refinement, and the utilisation of technology, to align with and support the overarching objectives of HKBU’s long-term strategic plan from 2024. Offering a wide range of programmes, the LDP equips our leaders at all levels with necessary skills to navigate and lead through our dynamic university environment. Participants will go through a 3D (Discover, Develop and Drive) learning journey, which facilitates them to grow and be inspired in a progressive way.
The LDP comprises three distinct programme levels, each tailored to support leaders at different job bands. Each programme level features a core module focusing on different mindsets, complemented with a curated list of skills modules designed to equip our leaders with diverse skill sets. This structure ensures the development of our leader’s capabilities to meet with the evolving challenges.
For Team Heads (Band H and G)
“ENVISION” is designed to enhance participants (who are team heads) to be visionary leaders. The programme focuses on cultivating leaders to adapt their leadership styles to diverse situations. Participants will understand and apply different leadership styles and skills, sharpen their strategic thinking and decision-making abilities, and manage innovation and change.
For Senior Managers and Manager (Band F and E2)
“IGNITE” is designed to develop the leadership skills of middle managers, IGNITE puts a strong emphasis on mastering key leadership concepts and elevate their leadership capabilities as a mid-level leaders. Participants will explore key topics such as influencing others, effective team performance management and managing change.
For Assistant Managers and Supervisors (Band E1, D2 and D1)
"INSPIRE" is designed for frontline managers and supervisors transitioning from individual contributors to people managers, with a particular emphasis on building awareness and skills. Participants will gain proficiency in supervisory foundations, developing the competencies needed to lead others through delegation, and embracing change.
The monthly Orientation Day is designed to welcome new executives and general staff. It’s a chance to engage in social networking, foster a sense of belonging, discover our University's unique excellence and values, as well as explore facilities that enhance both professional and personal growth within our vibrant community.
The Orientation Day for New Academic, Teaching and Non-teaching Staff (Band F or above) is an annual event for new joiners, designed to provide essential onboarding information and opportunities to engage with University Officers, and help them to connect with fellow colleagues. A variety of Learning & Development workshops are offered to help staff build essential competencies and support peer development initiatives. These sessions address key skills required in the dynamic university environment, with topics including Annual Performance Review Trainings, Coaching Employees for Higher Performance, Managing Workplace Harassment Complaints and Effective Mediation and Conflict Management Skills, among others.
Lunch and Learn sessions provide ongoing opportunities for professional growth, while fostering teamwork and cross-functional collaboration. Take a break, recharge, and learn practical insights from subject matter experts to apply in your work. Watch for upcoming enrollment details.
Participating in a functional workshop provides essential, role-specific skills and knowledge. Functional training develops abilities directly applicable to your job, improving performance on real-world tasks and strengthening critical skills for individual and team success.
