The University is committed to nurturing and investing in our greatest asset – our employees. Apart from our regular learning and development provision, we start to offer the Leadership Development Programme (LDP) to our Non-Teaching staff, to align with and support the overarching objectives of HKBU’s long-term strategic plan from 2024.
The LDP is strategically designed to foster a leadership culture and equip our leaders with necessary skills to navigate and lead through our dynamic university environment. Participants will go through a 3D (Discover, Develop and Drive) learning journey, which facilitates them to grow and be inspired in a progressive way:
LDP has three levels, with each level designed for leaders at different job bands.
The programme for each level includes a core module focusing on different mindsets, complemented with a curated list of skills modules designed to equip our leaders with diverse skill sets. This structure ensures the development of our leader’s capabilities to meet with the evolving challenges.
For Team Heads (at Band H and G)
“ENVISION” is designed to enhance participants (who are team heads) to be visionary leaders. The programme focuses on cultivating leaders to adapt their leadership styles to diverse situations. Participants will understand and apply different leadership styles and skills, sharpen their strategic thinking and decision-making abilities, and manage innovation and change.
The programme focuses on strategic development which enhance leaders' ability to lead multiple teams and ensure they are well-prepared to contribute to the strategic success of the University.
For Senior Managers and Manager (Band F and E2)
Designed to develop the leadership skills of middle managers, IGNITE puts a strong emphasis on mastering key leadership concepts and elevate their leadership capabilities as a mid-level leaders. Participants will explore key topics such as influencing others, effective team performance management and managing change.
The programme aims to continuously cultivate the capabilities of participants, empowering them to motivate their teams and drive team performance.
For Assistant Managers and Supervisors (Band E1, D2 and D1)
INSPIRE is designed for frontline managers and supervisors transitioning from individual contributors to people managers, with a particular emphasis on building awareness and skills. Participants will gain proficiency in supervisory foundations, developing the competencies needed to lead others through delegation, and embracing change.
The programme aims to provide support for their personal growth and to empower them to manage others efficiently.
We are developing more leadership learning provisions for other categories of employees to support the growth and needs of our University, such as learning linked to the generic competencies and skills-based topics which delivered in various learning modes, including workshops and lunch and learn. Stay tuned for more updates!
