FACULTY OF SCIENCE
Department of Biology
Post-doctoral Research Fellow / Research Associate / Research Assistant (PR0425/20-21)
The appointees are expected to work on a collaborative research project of Prof. Yiji Xia and Prof. Zhiling Yu for studying functions of the nicotinamide adenine diphosphate-capped ribonucleic acids in gene regulation in eukaryotic and prokaryotic organisms. The nicotinamide adenine diphosphate cap is a newly discovered non-canonical ribonucleic acids cap, but its function in gene regulation remains enigma. We have developed new methods for analysing it and are studying its molecular and biological function in transcriptional and posttranscriptional regulation (Zhang et al, 2019, PNAS; Shao et al, 2020, Nature Protocols; Zhang et al, 2021, PNAS; Hu et al, 2021, PNAS).
Please visit at http://biol.hkbu.edu.hk/?page_id=826 and https://scm.hkbu.edu.hk/en/expertise/detail/expertise_11.html for more details of the research.
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in biology or related disciplines, preferably with strong research training in ribonucleic acid biology, biochemistry / protein chemistry, epigenetic control, cancer biology, molecular microbiology, or genome-wide analysis / bioinformatics. Applicants with a higher level of qualification and/or more experience will be considered for the post of Post-doctoral Research Fellow (PhD required) / Research Associate (PhD or master’s degree required).
Initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of 1 year. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement.
Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Applicants are invited to submit their applications at the HKBU e-Recruitment System (jobs.hkbu.edu.hk). Those not invited for interview 8 weeks after the closing date may consider their applications unsuccessful. Details of the University’s Personal Information Collection Statement can be found at http://hro.hkbu.edu.hk/pics.
The University reserves the right not to make an appointment for the posts advertised, and appointment will be made according to the terms and conditions then applicable at the time of offer.
