Department of Social Work

The Department invites job applications under the Counselling and Psychological Enrichment Service (CAPE) of the Social Work Practice and Mental Health Centre (SWPMHC). The project aims to foster the mental well-being of students through counselling, and psycho-social groups and programmes in order to strengthen their resilience and promote psychological health under the influence of COVID-19 pandemic with built-in research elements.

Research Assistant (PR0275/20-21)

The appointee will assist in the evaluation of development of counselling service, groups and programmes for students of Hong Kong Baptist University. Duties include:

  • Assisting the Convener to formulate, coordinate and execute the project research plans;
  • Handling operational procedures of the research project and to conduct assessment and evaluation interviews;
  • Carrying out interventions with individual clients and groups; and
  • Providing research and other support to the SWPMHC.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in counselling, social work or equivalent;
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in both Chinese and English; and
  • Reliable, innovative and proactive when working with a team.

The job scope and remuneration offered by the University will be comparable to the rank of Social Work Assistant in the Government and NGOs.

Initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of 15 months. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
